£26.78

The Special Boat Service (SBS) is a special forces unit within the Royal Navy, responsible for maritime counter-terrorism. Originating from the Army Special Boat Section in 1940, the SBS has undergone name changes and was renamed the Special Boat Service in 1987. The unit is the sister unit of the British Army 22 Special Air Service Regiment (22 SAS), both under the operational control of the Director Special Forces. In October 2001, full command of the SBS was transferred from the Commandant General Royal Marines to the Commander-in-Chief Fleet. SBS operators are primarily recruited from the Royal Marines Commandos.
